So there is the bracket. I know, I know where are a lot of the axeman that you love. Well, we went over and over lists and lists of guitarists. So we kicked off the tournament on Monday. Hendrix kicked Joe Perry in the face. Tuesday it's a battle between Eddie Van Halen and Slash. Two amazing axeman, but only one can win. EVH is clearly the fav, but Slash has a lot of backers and who can argue with the guitar work on Sweet Child??? Wednesday... Slowhand EC and School Boy Angus Young... what a match. Angus hung tough, but in the end, Slowhand was too much. Thursday... Jimmy Page vs the walking dead... aka... Keith Richards... Richards is sent home leading us to Duanne Allman vs Tony Iommi. Yes, as always, metal rules. Iommi sends Allman back to the south with the first upset of the tourny. Monday... Ritchie "Smoke on the Water" Blackmore takes on Stevie Ray... SRV beats down Mr. Smoke on the Water easily. Tuesday, it was Randy Rhoads vs Carlos Santana. Very tight, but in the end, Santana prevails!!! Wednesday... Jeff Beck... David Gilmour... should be another good one!!! Gilmour moves on. Now we move to Round 2... up first... Jimmy Page in a landslide over Tony Iommi??? Can Iommi pull off another upset??? Tune in tomorrow... Page slaughters Iommi. Friday... Wow!!! It's a blues battle between SRV and Slowhand... SR F'in V by one vote. Eddie vs Carlos on Monday. Close for awhile, but EVH put his axe down and kicked a lil Santana ass. Tuesday... Jimi vs Gilmour. Upset??? Nope... Jimi all the way. Eddie vs SRV in the semis. Another good effort by SRV, but Eddie just too much. Jimi vs Jimmy... separated by 3 votes... Hendrix moving on.
Finals... Jimi Hendrix vs Eddie Van Halen... what a battle. EVH had the early lead thansk to Facebook. But calls poured in for Jimi. Back and forth, several ties, but in the end Mr. Hendrix pulled it out by 2 votes.
Congrats Jimi Hendrix... as voted by the Shark Listeners... the Greatest Classic Rock Guitarist of All Time!!!
